Lounge around for a while at Special Tea

Special Tea Lounge truly keeps me coming back for more. You might miss Miami’s only tea lounge, as it resides next to a Dunkin’ Donuts on 107 Avenue and 24 Street, but once you’re in the shopping center you’ll spot it. Its vibrant green sign will beckon you to this funky atmosphere, where you can hang out and catch up with friends, while playing a round or two of Chinese checkers.

Wall of Teas

Their menu is so varied that everyone should find something for their taste. I like to come by and try something new each time, and there’s still plenty to try. Some must haves are the refreshing Arnaldo Palmer, which of course combines lemonade and some of their daily steeped tea. For a newcomer who might be a little overwhelmed by the rather vast menu, this is a go-to drink. Head on over and pump in some fresh simple syrup to sweeten your drink a bit. Another refreshing option is a fruit smoothie, mango fusion is a good one. And then there are the teas. So many types can be made including Asian Pear, Pink Grapefruit, Lemongrass, Indian Chai and so many others. Just make sure to ask to see if your favorite is available. Coconut lavender is a delightful combination.

Coffee fiends can also get a boost here. Signature lattes range from banana bread — my favorite — blueberry parfait, crema Catalana and Almond Joy! Yes, those flavors deserved an exclamation point. And you can’t forget hazelnut mocha. You have to come by and try one, and then come by and try another, and another …

Chicken bacon ranch wrap -- confined deliciousness

Paninis, salads and wraps are also made to order. Chicken bacon ranch is a classic goodie or the pesto chicken is a great choice too. The wraps here are so tasty. Leave the bread for the glorious serving of buttered toast that’s also available. Just seeing it on its way to your table will perk you up in excitement for your first bite.

Desserts have recently been added to the menu, changing all the time. Keep an eye out for dulce de leche croissants and chocolate coconut biscotti. You also cannot go wrong with their vegan chocolate-chip cookie.
