Chef Howie Kleinberg owns Bulldog BBQ and Burger right around the corner of FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus. Kleinberg was a contestant on the third season of Bravo TV’s Top Chef where he acquired the nickname ‘Bulldog’ for his irrational and sometimes pompous personality. Though not a Top Chef winner, Kleinberg was definitely a memorable character. If you’re by the North Miami area, 154 & Biscayne to be exact, you have to check out Kleinberg and his BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. The ex Top Chef hopeful himself is always representing his restaurant at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival squirting some of his signature sauce over his sandwiches. And, if you’re in the area, you have to stop by and squirt some for yourself. You can find him too, walking around making sure everything is going smoothly.
Offerings on the menu include a delicious meaty white chili with ground turkey, white beans and a cornbread crumble. The Elvis-inspired Hunka Burnin’ Love Burger combines the late King’s favorite combination of peanut butter and bananas. But Kleinberg adds his twist on it by adding crispy bacon, Pepper jack cheese and some of the tastiest all Angus beef patties you’ll taste.
Sliders come in the form of biscuits and choices include BBQ pork, brisket or chicken. Paired with a side of sweet potato or chipotle fries and you’ve got everything any BBQ fan craves. Bottle of signature sauce waiting idly on your table included.
Desserts include seasonal cobblers and a s’more pie that is worth making room for. Toasted marshmallow tops this camper’s dream.
