Head to Polo Norte for the best in Cuban pizzas, ice creams

Fried Plantain Pizza and Fried Yuca
In case you don’t know, Cubans can make a damn good pizza! Polo Norte on 10302 Flagler St. makes a couple good ones, but my ultimate favorite is the sweet plantain pizza. The sweetness of the plantains combined with the saltiness of the cheese is making my mouth water as I write! If you like thin, crispy pizza this is not your place. Deep dish rules around here and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Leave the thin crust for a Domino’s night.
Big pizza calls for a big finish and the pico turquino will end your night right. It’s a panetela borracha (drunk cake) with two scoops of your favorite ice cream on top. I went for a scoop of Malta ice cream and one of vanilla with chunks of brownies in it. A new location recently opened in Kendall or you can also check out the original in Hialeah.
