Nunzio’s Ristorante on 11433 SW 40 ST does Italian right and authentically. The lentil soup, with diced angel hair pasta, was full of flavor. Very hearty, and filling, but that couldn’t stop me from ordering the gnocchi.
The first gnocchi I ever tasted was from this place, and I crave these little pillows of heaven just like you would a first love. A delectable meat sauce covers these little potato fluffs, and because this sauce is so tasty I usually stray from having gnocchi with a white sauce. One of the only times you’ll ever here me say: Red all the way!
The veal parmigiana was great. I’m pretty sure it was the tears from the calf that made the meat so tender. Speaking of babies, try not to sit by the framed picture of what seems to be naked grandchildren playing outside. Thankfully the chocolate crostata put the night back on track.
A family friend is known to order this dessert on a weekly basis and take it home. I can’t blame her. You get a deliciously crispy and flaky tart with a chocolate hazelnut filling that puts those nights you had Nutella right out of the jar to even more shame. Right when I’m done with the last bite, all I’m thinking about is the next time I get to come to Nunzios for great gnocchi, unforgettable desserts and a never-ending array of odd things on the walls.
