The heat is on at Taco Rico

Taco Rico is offering different daily specials, including cheap tacos and beer when the Heat play.

Taco platter comes with rice and beans. Fresh guacamole makes it no problem to finish three. Rice was a little bland, but enough flavor in the tacos.

It’s nice to find a place that welcomes you with open arms when a game is on. In this case it’s Taco Rico, which has become a big name for Tex-Mex lovers in South Florida. A fourth location recently opened in Doral where a small Latin restaurant struggled to strive for years. Hopefully, the growing chain’s known name and daily specials will make more people yearn for their tacos and burritos. It also helps that it’s right in front of a 24-hour Walmart, of course.

Tacos are priced at $79 cents when a Heat game is on, which is a good deal since originally they’re priced at $1.69 each. You can get your choice of beef or bean. It wouldn’t be game night without some beer. Taco Rico makes your stay worthwhile with specials for less than $2. Picking between Negra Modelo or Dos Equis on draft might be difficult.

While you’re there you should try some other Tex-Mex favorites like the wet burrito. For name’s sake, I though this would be a soggy mess. But being a big chimichanga fan, I found delight in every bite, not missing the fryer at all. The groumd beef was well seasoned and the red sauce added the perfect amount of heat.

There was definitely no room for dessert after the heftiness of the burrito, but next time I have to try some sopapillas. Almost every region of the world has its version of fried dough. This New Mexican treat brings in honey to add some extra sweetness. My cousin is also totally obsessed with their tortilla soup. Not too creamy and not too brothy, with just the right amount of corn and crispy tortilla chips.  Pass by your nearest Taco Rico in Doral, Pinecrest, Coral Gables or Miami Beach.
